Stephanie Sfara and Jordan Smuts started their careers helping people recover-Stephanie as a physical therapist, and Jordan as an athletic trainer. They loved the work, but something always stuck with them: what if they could help people before they got hurt? What if they could guide people to move better, feel stronger, and live fuller lives-not from a place of recovery, but of prevention and performance?

So they shifted. Jordan moved into personal training at a big box gym. Stephanie dove into the world of sports performance. While the work felt more aligned, the environments didn’t. One lacked real community and connection; the other had great training but was filled with high school athletes, not the adults they wanted to serve.

Then came 2020-and with it, furloughs, uncertainty, and a moment to reset. They cleared out a rented garage, rolled in a squat rack, a few kettlebells, and some bands, and started training clients the very next day. No fancy setup. Just two coaches who cared deeply and a vision that felt right. The results? Incredible. The environment was authentic. The impact? Immediate.

That garage became the spark that led them to build their first official location of ROI Strength -in a repurposed Starbucks inside Belgrade Shopping Center. They built it out themselves, piece by piece, with care and intention. Three years later, they’d outgrown it. Now in their new home, ROI Strength continues to grow-not just in square footage, but in purpose.

Stephanie and Jordan are focused on training up the best coaches in RVA, building careers in a field that changes lives, and creating a place where people feel seen, supported, and stronger every day. Because ROI Strength isn’t just a gym-it’s the return on a deeper investment: in people, in community, and in the power of moving well for life.
